Rising above tragedy. Thriving, not suffering. Losing a leg might seem like the end to a ballroom dancer, but for Adrianne Haslet-Davis, it was just the beginning.

Adrianne was cheering runners at the finish line of the Boston Marathon when the second blast took her left foot. In the hospital, she was approached by Hugh Herr at the MIT Media Lab to create a high-tech bionic limb capable of dancing. Adrianne fought post traumatic stress disorder {PTSD} in addition to her physical struggles, but now has a full public speaking schedule raising awareness of amputees’ experiences. She addresses the particular difficulties faced by women and is vocal about the need for adequate health care coverage for all.
